i'll stand
with arms wide and heart abandoned
in awe
of the one who gave it all
so i'll stand
my soul, Lord to you surrendered
all i am is Yours

i love you, jie!

may Your kingdom come
and Your will be done
as we serve Your heart
let salvation flow
as Your people pray
Lord we long for more

school's a bore, books are a bore, studies are suffocating. its perpetually stressful, even on the weekends, at the back of your mind lingers the query of whether or not homework has been completed. maybe its just me, because i hardly do my homework; most of the time i leave it to the night before. its scary that it hasn't sunk in yet, i keep telling myself that the mid-years are in a month's time, but i can never kick myself into gear. in fact, i shouldn't even be online now, if not for some confounded geog assignment. anyhow, i realise that i've been procrastinating, and using God as an excuse! i tell myself that if God has planned for me to do well for my O's, i WILL do well, and so i don't study. that thinking is so wrong. i've come to realise, and push myself, that i'll strive for the best in everything i do, nothing less. that includes guitar, drums, sailing, studies. and not to forget the very important one, building my relationship with God.

during one of the worship debriefs the recent weekend, nat was emphasizing the importance of the worship team, beacuse we truly are the frontlines of it all. just like nat said, youths nowadays are very attracted to the hype and emotional "high" they get whenever they go to concerts like the festival of praise etc. that's probably why the FOP attracted such a crowd last year. that's also why youths are queuing up as early as 1400 hours in order to get into CHC's 1700 hours service. obviously, this is a really strong pulling factor. and i agree with nat! if "good" worship (note the use of the inverted commas) attracts youths to Frontliners, and in the process they get touched and moved by the God, by which a passion and thirst for Him is stirred up, then that's what we should strive for, as the worship team. even though it is agreed that the music isn't entirely important at all, and that it doesn't hinder God from moving; if it attracts such a huge crowd to service, then that's what we strive for. of course, not all might be changed. but as the Bible says, as long as one heart is turned to Christ, then all in heaven rejoice. as such, we all have a part in facilitating the bringing of people to Christ! no matter whether or not it is by joining the outreach committee to reach out to the public, or joining the befriending committee to make friends with every newcomer, or just smiling and acknowledging everyone you meet to make them feel welcome in FL, we all have a part to play in this huge movement to bring people to Christ. after all, we ARE tasked with this, and should be "fishers of men". and, quoting nat, if a guy comes to church just for the girls, and in the process is moved by God, then we will be happy for Him. we need to give them a reason to keep coming back after their first experience with God, like making friends with them and inviting them back. (im not talking about the girls part anymore) we need to make both FL and BMC a warm and welcoming place, so much so that people wont be "chased away". i'm not perfect, none of us are. but i'm sure that if we work at it, all things will turn out to be for the glory of Christ, even small, seemingly miniscule actions, like smiling to someone and saying hi. every little bit counts.

today, today
it's all or nothing
all the way
the praise goes out to You
today, today
i live for one thing
to give You praise in everything i do
yeah, the praise goes out to You.
